Weekly Weigh-In: Why The Heck Am I Up?

As this week’s title alludes I had a small gain this week.  I was .8 lb up when I weighed in on Saturday morning at my home meeting.  WTF?!  I ate right and worked out so what gives?  My theories include hormonal ridiculousness and this insane heat.  As many women know our weight can fluctuate quite a bit at this super exciting time.  However, although I’m feeling a big bloated, most of my other PMS symptoms are kept to a minimum when I’m living a healthier lifestyle.  I don’t feel as achy (except for the headache I always get a few days out), I don’t really have any cramps, and I generally feel better than usual.  So there is a silver lining to this little story.

My other thought as to why I’ve gained has to do with the heat wave we’ve been hit with here in the Northeast.  I’m always a wuss in the heat so I think my little body has reacted by keeping as much water as it possibly can.  I had to go out of the office and look at buildings on our hottest day and didn’t feel so great afterwards so maybe that has a bit to do with why the scale didn’t agree with me this week.

Either way, I know I can’t lose every single week (although that would be really nice) and it will come off in the coming weeks.  While I know this to be true, it is easy to forget so I have had to remind myself several times since my weigh in that this isn’t going to ruin my whole weight loss journey.  I also have to thank all the people who reminded me of this when I tweeted about my gain.  Sometimes we need a little reinforcement and I definitely got it from some great friends this weekend.  Thanks guys!

I’m determined to stick with my routine and hope to see the results next week.  I’ll be down the shore for most of the week with the 4th of July holiday coming up, so that may pose some challenges since I won’t be cooking for myself like I usually do.  But I still manage to eat healthfully when I’m there so I’m not too concerned.  With all that in mind I’ll be sure to use my phone to track my food with every beachy meal and snack.  I also have all sorts of motivation to exercise when I’m in Cape May so I should be in good shape there.

I hope everyone has a great holiday week and those who are all about with my on my healthy mission make good choices over the holiday!  Celebrate with fireworks, not cake!

    I’m telling you girl, add in some weight training and you will see more results. Also be sure to keep your measurements up, that is a much better way to see how far you are coming along.   2. Thanks, Nikki! You’re right I need to get better about weights so I got up early and went to the gym before work today to lift! I still feel pretty good about my progress overall so all’s not lost. I’ll check out some of the things you recommended and I already love Skinny Taste! Her recipes are awesome.
