10 Miler Weekend Pretrip Report

I’m heading down to Disney World again this weekend! Believe it or not I haven’t been there since May which is a really long time for me. Granted, I had a little dose of Disney when I went to Disneyland in August, but it will be really nice to go “home” this weekend. I’m so pumped to be heading back to my home turf especially when tons of friends will be in town.

I’ve gone to WDW the first weekend in October for the last few years and always have an awesome time. This is always the first weekend of the Food and Wine festival, there is usually a running event, and a lot of Disney nerds converge on the scene for the weekend. It’s always super busy but a ton of fun and I can’t wait to do it again this year!

I will be rooming with my friends Cindy and Sally this time around at the Boardwalk (my favorite!).  We even have a boardwalk view so I’m super pumped to have that for the first time. The girls should be a lot of fun to bunk with. I’ve already shared a room with Cindy before and I know she’s easy going and fun and I’m sure Sally will be too.

A lot of my friends are running the Tower of Terror 10 miler so I will be there with bells on to cheer and make a fool of myself as they pass by. Cindy got me a cow bell. Brace yourselves. As you might have noticed I will not be running this race because I know I’m not ready. A lot of people tried to get me to sign up for it before I did my first 5k while I was still having a panic attack about finishing the 5k. Maybe someday I’ll do a 10 mile race, but I’m really cool with my running progress so far. I’ll also be going to the after party so that should be a blast.

On Sunday I will be in my nerdy glory when I attend the D23 Epcot 30th Celebration. Epcot is my geekiest subject and my favorite park so I’ll probably love listening to imagineers and other such people talk about the park all day. I’m not usually into the D23 events because I’m not really into paying their hefty price tags for their events, but I’m doing this one for my love of Epcot.  I’m not sure what else Sunday will bring, but I’m sure there will be a visit to Cava and lots of fun with great people.

Monday is the big anniversary so I’ll be up at the crack of dawn to hang out outside the main gate like we did last year for Magic Kingdom. We had a blast last year and I’m sure it will be no different at this park.  There are a few planned events for the day and I’m sure we’ll go to some of them, but I’m pretty flexible about what goes on. I’m most excited for the tag they’ll be putting onto Illuminations. Oh Illuminations, how I love thee.

Anyway, I’m incredibly excited about this very quick, but really fun trip. I’m really looking forward to seeing so many of you and cheering for those running. See ya real soon!
